Solartech Solar Water Pumping System Introduction

What’s the solar pumping system?

Solar pumping system  is fully powered by solar energy, which means it doen’t requires any external power supply or battery. It can pump water from rivers, pools, wells, etc. Nowadys, this device has been widely used in agriculture irrigation, pasture animal husbandry, city waterscape, seawater desalination, even the living water supply. Since energy conservation and environmental protection have become the focus of the whole word, and the solar pumping system can simultaneously meet these two demands, it gains strong support from government.

Introduction of Solartech solar pump technology

Shenzhen Solar Renewable Energy Co., Ltd devotes to research and develop solar pumping system and solar grid-connected inverter products. Here just give a brief introduction of their solar pump device. The device mainly consists of three parts, which are PV array, solar pumping inverter and pump.

Pv array
PV array is used to convert solar rediation energy to electrical energy, then provide the power source for the whole system.

Solar pumping inverter
Solar pumping inverter convert the DC power produced by PV array to AC power, then drives the pump to work. It adopts MPPT(maximum power point tracking) control method which allows the inverter can adjust the output frequency according to the solar irradiation.

Pump
Pump is drived by 3-phase motor, it draws water from river or deep-well, then store the water in reservoir or water tank, or directly connected with irrigation or fountain system. The pump can be compatible with many different pumps, like axial-flow pump, centrifugal pump, deep-well pump and mixed-flow pump.

Multi optional solar pump models

Accoding to the solar irradiation situation in the locality, Solartech provides different models of solar water pump system to meet the customers’ demands for daily water flow and water head.

Solartech has done many big projects all over the world, like “Solar Water Pump for Agriculture Irrigation in Bangladesh”, “Solar Family Farm in Zimbabwe”, “Solar Pump System for Daily Water Supply”, etc. It’s products have been sold to more than 100 countries, you can see some related  news report about Solartech solar pumping system.

“Solar Water Pump for Agriculture Irrigation in Bangladesh

Project Location: Village Muradpur, Bogra County, Bangladesh

Project Introduction: Bogra is a county in Rājshāhi, Bangladesh. It lies at the middle-north part of Bangladesh. The average annual rainfall in Bogra is 1 610mm, average temperature ranges from 11.9 °C to 34.6 °C. Agriculture is the main revenue source for local peasants. Lacking of water resource is the key factor which restrains the local agriculture, animal husbandry’s development because of the seasonally uneven rainfall.

Solution: Utilizes Solartech PS4000 solar  pumping system with 2 auto-tracking systems. The system can pump 600m3 per day with 12m dynamic water head, which provides the adequate irrigation conditions for economic crops such as rice, jute, tobacco etc. It also establishes the foundation for local solar agriculture development.

Economic Benefits: Solartech PS4000 solar  irrigation system annually generates 15 330 kWh. In its 25-year lifespan, the system can save standard coal 144 tons, reduction emission of CO₂60 tons, SO₂2.9tons, smoke 2.2 tons, lime ash 37.5 tons.

 Solar Family Farm in Zimbabwe

Project Location: Norton, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe.

Project Introduction: In Zimbabwe, nearly 70% of population are living in poverty, the added value of agriculture shared 18 percent of Zimbabwe's GDP. Irrigation is key to achieving increased agricultural production that is important for economic development and for attaining food security.

Solution: Solartech solar pumping sysetm PS550-3 was applied in this project. Installation was completed at the end of September 2012 and the system started operating in October 2012. The plot is 4.5 acres and 4 acres are on drip irrigaton. The solar pumping sysem lifts water from a borehole 19m deep with 25m pumping head, it produces water 30,000 litres daily. The water is used to grow lettuce, green pepper, rape, cabbage, spinnach, tomatoes, beans and other vegetables. Now the farm is providing affordable garden products to the community of Norton town. Besides agricultural irrigation, the system also provides clean drinking water for 4000 broiler chickens on the same plot.

"Solartech products are unique in that the competitiveness makes them affordable to the rural farmer and low to middle income earners. This is the market segment interested in the Solartech product range. The cost and poor reliability of electricity in Zimbabwe make the use of solar powered irrigation competitive in the medium term - six months to one year return on investment. Affordable food and source of income will be made available to the poor." said by farm owner, Tongai Mundiya.

The local economy, including agricultural production, food production are going to be sustainable in the long run by using less water and less land and less energy.

Economic Benefits: 2,628kWh of electricity generated annually; 24.7 tons of coal saving in its 25-year service life; 10.9 tons of CO2, 0.5 tons of SO2, 0.37 tons of smoke and 6.5 tons of ash reductions in its 25-year service life.

According to World Development Indicators 2011 published by World Bank, every cubic meter of water consumption could contribute 1 USD to Zimbabwe's GDP, in the system 25-year service life, over 270,000 cubic meters of water will be produced by solar energy. “
